Ghikas and Herbert

Ghikas and Herbert will perform live audio-visual improvisation, combining amplified sources (viola, objects) with live processing using Unrealtime software, a software designed for audiovisual improvisation. In development since 2011, Unrealtime has been used in releases, performances and broadcasts internationally. Artists who have used it live include Jennifer Walshe, Robin Rimbaud (SCANNER), Lauren Sarah Hayes, and Dan Hayhurst (SCULPTURE). Releases include Good Teeth by Ghikas & Walshe and “The Consuming Flame: Open Exercises in Group Form” by Matmos. The software features a visual interface that allows performers to navigate timelines and resequence audiovisual gestures in real-time. The performance will involve live sampling of sound and video and will include projected visuals that will be simultaneously improvised with the audio.
